Pyongyang Marathon’s history

The marathon is being held after 6 years due to the leader’s order to shut down the country at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. In recent news, Pyongyang allowed foreign individuals to visit the country however, the officials abruptly terminated flights from a Chinese city.

The city held its last race in 2019 which hosted more than 900 foreign participants compared to this year’s estimated 200 foreign runners. Koryo Tours Manger revealed more details about the country saying that although it is well-known that North Korea is a “complex” place, it does seem fascinating to some individuals.
