Conferences & Symposiums

HICORE will conduct an annual Research and Education Conference on childhood obesity in Hawaii.  A theme will be established related to obesity issues as they relate to the children of Hawaii (Ex: childhood obesity among Asians and Pacific Islanders – addressing unique issues in assessment, complications and management). There will be a specific section during the conference for the public (ex: Seminars on health family eating, physical activity etc.).  Tentative conference date March, 2010.  Check back for more details. 

2009 Physical Activity & Nutrition Summit, “Good Health: Good Business
Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 7:15 am – 4:30 pm, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Waikiki, Coral Ballroom
The conference theme “Good Health: Good Business” focuses on the importance of health in the workplace and the need for comprehensive worksite wellness programming in Hawaii.  Worksite wellness programs can create large-scale changes in the health of our population and show a return on investment for Hawaii businesses.  The morning portion of the summit will focus on the conference theme and consist of presentations from Larry Chapman, an internationally recognized expert and speaker on innovative health management interventions.  The morning portion will also showcase a panel of Hawaii business representatives who will provide examples of how they have implemented wellness into their worksites.

 

 

Co-sponsorship for the seminar series is provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Hawaii Chapter, Inc., RTRN-RCMI Translational Research Network, and the Hawaii State Department of Health Healthy Hawaii Initiative.
