Connect & Explore Webinar Series: Examing Declines in Childhood Obesity in Four Communities

Date: Monday April 30th

The National Collabroative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) published six papers in Childhood Obesity highlighting findings from the Childhood Obesity Declines project.

This webinar will examine the multi-level approaches, including policies, across all jurisdictions to improve the nutrition and physical activity environments through a socio-ecological lens. Speakers will discuss research and evaluation implications and provide guidance for future studies of community-based childhood obesity prevention.

9th Biennial Childhood Obesity Conference

Pediatric Academic Societies and Asian Society for Pediatric Research (PAS/ASPR) Joint Meeting - Call for Abstracts

Date: May 3 - May 6, 2014

Location: Vancouver

The Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Annual Meeting is the largest international meeting focused on research in child health. We bring together a variety of groups to—not only discuss original research, which has been the hallmark of the PAS meeting, but to also discuss how this research can be applied to actual clinical practice in pediatrics. This alliance also provides opportunity to discuss other critical issues that affect child health such as public policy and advocacy.

The People's Scientific Conference to Promote Health and Eliminate Health Disparities

Date: Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15, 2013

Location: University of Florida, Gainesville, FL

The conference is sponsored by the UF Health Disparities
Research and Intervention Program in partnership with the UF Prostate
Disease Center and the NIH National Institute on Minority Health and Health
Disparities (NIMHD).

This first-of-its-kind conference will launch a Health Disparities Research
Fellow Mentoring Program that aims to inspire and train the next generation
of researchers (e.g., post-docs, assistant professors) and community health
workers to conduct research that has implications for promoting health and
eliminating health disparities in racial/ethnic minority and underserved
communities. All mentees selected to participate in the Mentoring Program
will receive funding for transportation and lodging to attend the
conference, and a registration fee waiver.

23rd Annual Congress of the European Childhood Obesity Group

Date: November 13 - 15, 2013

The call for abstracts is open and the deadline for abstracts submission is June 14th, 2013. Provisional programme, logistical information and registration forms will follow shortly. 

This year's congress aims to bring together around 200 childhood obesity experts and young scientists from across Europe.
